SKY NEWS AND THE MADELEINE FOUNDATION

At around 4.30pm on Sunday 4 July, SKY NEWS posted an article about the possibility of the current Home Secretary, Theresa May, ordering a re-investigation by a British police force into what really happened to Madeleine McCann.

Apart from their mis-spelling Madeleine's name, the SKY NEWS report said this:

"Although both Portuguese and British police have closed their investigations, money raised by the Madeleine Foundation has been put towards hiring private investigators to continue the search".

This is clearly an error. SKY NEWS should have written 'The McCanns' Find Madeleine Fund', not 'The Madeleine Foundation'.

We should like to take this opportunity to make the following crystal clear:

1. The Madeleine Foundation campaigns to find out the truth about what really happened to Madeleine McCann and has no link or connection whatsoever with the McCanns' fund-raising enterprises.

2. We have always made this clear on our websites.

3. We have not donated to the McCanns' private investigators.

4. Whilst we have had many donations from the public, not one has ever been from anyone thinking they had donated to help find Madeleine.

Earlier this evening we received orders for our new booklet thanks to SKY's mistake. We have received no donations as a result of SKY's error. Should any donation be received, we will take steps to ensure, as we have always done in the past, that the donor is fully aware that the donation is towards the work of The Madeleine Foundatio and NOT to one of the McCanns' fund-raising projects.
